Online Classes for Teens

Enrollment for the school year 25/26 starts in May

Swedish Online, ages 13-15

Day/time: Wednesdays 5:00 - 6:30 pm

Course Duration: August 27, 2025 – May 27, 2026

Format:

  • Online course

  • Weekly 90-minute classes over two semesters (Fall & Spring)

  • Group-based learning via Zoom

Target Group:

  • Students ages 13–15 who already have basic conversational skills in Swedish

  • Suitable for students with heritage language background or previous Swedish study

Course Goals:
By the end of the course, students will:

  • Strengthen their confidence in spoken Swedish

  • Improve reading comprehension of both fiction and non-fiction texts

  • Develop writing skills for personal, narrative, and argumentative texts

  • Expand vocabulary related to everyday life, school, and current topics

  • Gain greater understanding of Swedish grammar in context

Course Content Includes:

  • Thematic reading and discussion (articles, stories, current events)

  • Writing short texts with feedback and revision

  • Grammar and vocabulary practice through digital tools

  • Oral presentations and interactive language games

Course Materials:

  • Digilär digital textbook and learning platform: Digilär

  • Supplementary reading materials and videos provided by the teacher

Language Requirements:

  • Students should understand and speak Swedish at least at intermediate conversational level (A2+)

Dates: Autumn term: 8/27-12/17 (No class on 11/26), Spring term: 01/14-05/27 (No class on 02/18, 04/01)


Swedish Online, ages 16-20

Day/time: Wednesdays 6:30 - 8:00 pm

Course Duration: August 27, 2025 – May 27, 2026

Format:

  • Online course

  • Weekly 90-minute classes over two semesters (Fall & Spring)

  • Group-based learning via Zoom Online Course

Target Group:

  • Students aged 16–20 with strong oral Swedish skills

Course Content Includes:

This year-long course supports students in developing the reading and writing proficiency expected in Swedish upper secondary education. From December to May, it is also the official Tisus preparation course at the Scandinavian School.

Course Phases:

August 2025–November 2025: Language Development

  • Strengthening grammar, spelling, and vocabulary

  • Improving writing structure and reading comprehension

  • Working with narrative and argumentative texts

  • Course material: Digilär and teacher-created resources

December 2025–May 2026: Academic Focus & Tisus Preparation

  • Introduction to academic genres and vocabulary

  • Strategies for reading and analyzing non-fiction and argumentative texts

  • Writing practice aligned with Tisus requirements

  • Mock Tisus tests

May:

  • Tisus test: Tuesday May 5, 2026

Alternative Track: Tisus-Only

Students with a confirmed level of Swedish - writing and reading - may join only the Tisus Preparation phase (December–May). The class focus is Academic Writing, advanced reading comprehension and Tisus preparation.
