Gathering our Diverse Community Together

Together, we are the SSCC community, and the community is at the center of this project. We aim, not to only meet the needs of our community, but also to inspire creativity and joy, to nurture the next generation and to sustain and celebrate connections. The Scandinavian School and Cultural Center is a vibrant and inclusive hub, a place to learn, belong, and grow. 

Program Expansion

The Together Campaign will allow us to grow our offerings and our expanded campus creates new opportunities for our community. We aim to find new ways to inspire and deliver on our mission of inspiring lifelong experiential learning built on Scandinavian values.

We are in the process of adding to our programming. Some ideas include:

Educational and Cultural

  • More afternoon programming for elementary school students

  • More activities for middle school and high schoolers

  • Increasing the variety of events and courses we offer for adults

  • Deliver quality education in our core languages (Danish, Finnish, Norwegian & Swedish) - offering a variety of programming for different language skill levels as well as serving for students of different age groups.

Community building

  • More social gatherings to strengthening community building

  • Introduce more workshops and speaker series

  • More learning and networking opportunities

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

  • Increase our current tuition assistance fund to be able to offer more substantial student scholarships.

Teacher retention and benefits

  • Invest further in our teacher and staff. To allow for improved benefits and more opportunities for professional development.

  • Subsidized teachers housing at 511 Laguna Honda Blvd
